RIP Mr Binky the Cat

Postby LogMan » Mon Sep 17, 2018 11:48 am

Very sad day here as Mr Binky died suddenly early this morning.

At 1 yr old he was hit by a truck and his leg was badly broken.

The vet said 3 choices, put him down, amputate the leg or major surgery for $6k.

We got the surgery and he was great for 7 years.

2 days ago he seemed lethargic and was breathing funny.

Called the vet late last night as he wasn't doing good, was going to take him in first thing this morning but at 4 am he died.

We suspect either pneumonia or a virus, but no point getting a postmortem done.

Total shock as 3 days ago he was running around and having fun with his 3 other siblings.

RIP my friend....

Hi Paul, I've not been keeping up, so sorry to hear about your loss. Dogs and Cats are family members, I totally feel for you. It really makes you see how we need to pay extra attention to them because their time with us can be so short sometimes.

Take care.

Thanks Robin, I was thinking of you and Dodger when I posted.

We're both feeling really depressed still, wondering what the heck happened in 2 days to cause his death.

The thing that's really annoying is these things seem to happen on a weekend when the Vet's are closed, and emergency calls can be really expensive, not that it matters but you know what I mean.

We described the symptoms when I called the vet Sunday night, she said there were no red flags that she could see, and to bring him in on Monday morning.

I know we'll get over it eventually but seems like as we get older these things hit harder. :(
